Fifteen years of Gambian roads

B.M Tech Solution started in 2009 with one toolbox, a borrowed motorbike and a habit of answering the phone at any hour. The first jobs were simple — a dead battery outside the market, a fan belt on the Kombo Sillah road, a taxi that wouldn't start on the Serekunda highway. Word travelled the way it does here: through drivers, through the market, through people who knew somebody who knew somebody.

Today the workshop is still at SereKunda Market, but most of the work happens wherever the vehicle stopped. We carry a full mobile kit — socket sets, torque wrench, jack and stands, multimeter, OBD reader, jump pack, tyre gear and a stock of the parts that fail most often on Gambian roads: belts, filters, plugs, brake pads, batteries, hoses. If a job needs a lift or a machine shop, we say so honestly and take it there ourselves.

What hasn't changed is the way we quote. You hear the price before the spanner comes out. If the fix is a five-minute adjustment, you pay for five minutes.

    We quote before we move

    Call-out, likely fault and a rough parts figure, on the phone. If it's something you can safely check yourself, we'll tell you that instead.

  3. 03

    We come to the vehicle

    Market, compound, car park or roadside between Serrekunda and Kanifing. Most jobs are finished in the same visit.

  4. 04

    You pay for what was done

    Cash or mobile money, itemised. Old parts handed back to you unless you'd rather we dispose of them.
